Craig W. was born January 19, 1972 in Charleston, South Carolina. After graduating from Middleton High School, Craig attended Trident College for 1 year. He left school to get married and subsequently had 2 daughters. During this time, Craig was a manager at Pizza Hut (12 years) and a Convenience Store (4 years). He also drove a taxi part time.
After his divorce, Craig moved to Atlanta in 2009 where he worked at UPS (2 years) and then at Cactus Car Wash (6 years). Unfortunately, Craig became seriously ill (ulcer, cancer) and could not work. With his financial commitments building up and his wife deciding to leave his, it lead to an extended period of homelessness. During this time, Craig was spending most evenings around Grady Hospital and often would go to the Emergency Room for treatment or warmth. It was after a couple of months of this that he was connected to the Homes of Light and United way of Metro Atlanta’s Hospital to Home Program. During his time at Homes of Light, Craig has concentrated on improving his health and has endured several surgeries. This summer of 2107, great news arrived, he was recently informed by his Doctors that he is cancer free.
Craig is now leasing an apartment, is continuing to get stronger and is focused on making a full recovery with hopes to go back to work in the very near future.
