Jack was born in 1954 in Aiken, South Carolina. He grew up in Savannah, Ga. After graduating high school in 1973, he attended the University of Ga. He left school in 1976 and worked in the liquor industry for about 15 years.
He then returned to college at Armstrong Atlanta State University and received his Bachelor of Health Science degree in 1995. During this time he began to struggle with drug addiction.
He was a functioning drug addict for about 15 years while he worked as a server. He eventually lost his job and became homeless in 2011.
Through their Hospital to Home (H2H) program, Jack was referred to Homes of Light in September of 2011. During his time at Homes of Light, Jack served as a house manager and become a peer specialist, helping other clients transition into to being self-reliant.
One of Jack’s hobbies is gardening, so while he was a house manager, Jack enjoyed keeping up the Homes of Light community garden at the property he was residing at.
Jack has moved into his own apartment and continues to work on maintaining his sobriety. He is very happy that he has the opportunity to work with the staff and clients of Homes of Light.
