Homes of light was chosen by United Way to be their agency of the month. Here, they highlight our Director and his contributions to veterans. Established in 2011, Homes of Light offers housing to an array of clients throughout metro Atlanta, with an emphasis on veterans and individuals with trouble accessing proper healthcare. They provide case management and connect clients to various essential services including medical, substance abuse counseling, mental health treatment, identification, employment and job training. They also are host to several social enterprise programs that help provide clients with clothing, transportation and vocational training.
“Our team is an army, no pun intended, focused on providing support through housing and counseling for our veteran heroes transitioning out of homelessness and Grady clients with health barriers. It is a moral imperative to assist our country’s veterans while placing an emphasis on wellness and regaining their independence. Through improving their mental and physical health, providing employment training and providing access to affordable vehicles and then permanent housing, we are executing the mission of rebuilding people.” – Homes of Light Executive Director, Gil Reschenthaler. Outside of work life, Gil likes to grab a tasty Catfish Po’ Boy from Six Feet Under Pub & Fish House.
